Jacob V.
Private tutor in Nashville, TN
Education
Junior pursuing a Mechanical Engineering degree and a minor in Energy and Environmental Systems at Vanderbilt University
Experience
In high school I was a tutor for kids in physics and mathematics, and in college I often lend a helping hand to my peers if needed. I scored a 32 on the ACT and was awarded the AP Scholars award my senior year of high school. I want to be a tutor in order to give back to the local community and to help students who are struggling feel more confident academically, because I know that confidence in the classroom plays a big role in many aspects of life. In high school, I was a member of the Peer Mentoring and leadership team which traveled around to the local elementary schools in our district to spend time with children who were struggling either academically or socially. This great opportunity helped me gain invaluable experience with helping others and being able to explain challenging concepts in clear, easy to understand ways. Since coming to Vanderbilt, I have taken almost two and half years full of rigorous math, science, and engineering courses that have prepared me to be an excellent tutor in those categories.

Hobbies
On the weekends I like to relax and spend time with my friends or go out to eat at a delicious restaurant around Nashville. I also love going for a hike or jog at the local parks around the city, or just going to watch a movie or concert that is playing nearby.
