I am a native of New Orleans. Since my high school days, I have had a passion for English literature and knew it would play an important part in my academic future. I liked to read, so I began working on my creative writing as a high school junior. I went to Vassar College in New York, where I earned a bachelor's degree in English with a focus on African-American literature. While attending this institution, I came to the realization I wanted to be a teacher. I am currently attending Vanderbilt University, where I am pursuing a Ph.D. My doctoral dissertation is on black cultural production and its relationship to literary New Orleans, where I currently live. I also have tutoring expertise in subject areas such as ESL/ELL, literature, reading, writing, essay editing, and preparation for the ACT, GED, GRE, PSAT, and SAT. In my leisure time, I enjoy traveling, being outdoors, going to the movies, visiting different attractions in my hometown, and going to new eateries with friends to try different foods.
