Hobbies

- I love music; studied music theory and played piano at Vanderbilt University's Blair School of Music throughout my high school years. I also played the alto saxophone in my high school jazz band. I currently continue to recreationally play piano and explore a variety of genres. - I love to cook; I find the process of cooking is very similar to scientific procedures (however slightly more relaxed!) - I'm very passionate about public health and global public health. - I am an avid reader; some of my favorite news publications include the New Yorker, the New York Times, National Geographic, the Washington Post, BBC, Al-Jazeera, Time Magazine, the Wall Street Journal, and more. Some of my favorite authors include Zadie Smith, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, Toni Morrison, Ernest Hemingway, Zora Neale Hurston, William Faulkner, Elie Wiesel, and more. I also enjoy reading excerpts that highlight 20th century political thought including pieces from Simone de Beauvoir's "The Second Sex", pieces from various works by Michel Foucault, and works by W.E.B. DuBois.
