Experience
I base my own philosophy regarding education on what John Dewey, philosopher, said in his book Democracy and Education, specifically that a good education equals growth, and that growth is not necessarily a means to an end, but continues to feed upon itself. The more education a person receives, the more curious they are about the world, and the more they will want to learn. Based on this, and my life experiences and my own education, I have become devoted to providing educational opportunities for students, which is why I enjoy working as a tutor. I also agree with many leaders that citizens must have a good education in order to run a good democracy. I enjoy tutoring students in a number of subjects, such as writing, literature, basic grammar, history, social studies, and basically all things in language arts and the humanities. At the same time as I study the content and necessary knowledge of the school subject with my students, I also work to equip them for their life beyond academia, with an eye towards them becoming good citizens who can communicate their ideas respectfully and clearly. In my free time, I enjoy reading, traveling, and learning new languages.
