7 YEARS of tutoring experience. I have experience in helping college students (ages 18-65) down to elementary aged children. I have also tutored people with special needs. Math is so difficult for people because of two main reasons. The teachers are often so educated that they find it difficult to break the problems down step-by-step. Also, the teaching style may not be compatible with the learning style of the student. This is why individualized attention is so beneficial. A good tutor will assess the learning style of the student and adapt accordingly. Additionally, mathematical concepts build on themselves. If one concept is not understood then it could stifle learning for the rest of the semester. If this occurs, it is important to receive individualized attention as soon as possible.
