Private tutor in Nashville, TN
The University of Memphis, Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education, 2007
I have extensive experience in working with students of all learning styles and ages. I currently hold a valid Tennessee teaching license with certification to teach grades K-6. For the past 6 years, I taught 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grades at Millington Elementary School for Shelby County Schools in West Tennessee. I was a substitute teacher the year prior to starting my teaching career. During college, I worked for a private tutoring company in which I helped students with study skills, test-taking skills, projects, and problem solving in specific subject areas. I also worked for the YWCA's before/after school program at two different schools, and for a couple of summer camp programs. Finally, as part of my college training, I was required to complete multiple hours of field experience at various city and suburban schools in the Shelby County area. This past summer, I decided to end my teaching career to go back to school to pursue another passion. I am currently enrolled at The Art Institute of Nashville as a baking/pastry chef student. Because of my love for teaching and the need for flexible part-time work hours, I have decided to tutor again. Although I have switched career paths, teaching will always be a passion in my life.
