EducationBA from Pomona College in Mathematics with a 3.6 GPA.
In the fall of 2015 I will attend Vanderbilt University starting for my Masters in Education for Secondary Education in Mathematics. This is a two year masters program that will prepare me to teach all levels of high school math and allow me to explore academic research opportunities.
ExperienceI have tutored everything from learning how to read to AP Physics. I especially love tutoring math and have 5 plus years of experience tutoring middle school algebra through calculus. Over the five years I have tutored about 8 different students. I have experience working with honors students excited about studying as well as students struggling to understand the basics of reading and math.
I strive to understand each student's learning style and mold my teaching to that style. While some of my students have enjoyed and understood diagrams and pictures, others excel with memorization and repetition. It is a huge joy for me to discover what gets a student excited about learning!
HobbiesI am so incredibly excited to move from Southern California to Nashville with my puppy Tavi! I play violin and cello (both classical and folk/bluegrass). I love to play soccer, go bouldering at the gym, and hang out with friends. I am an extrovert and there is nothing that makes me more excited then helping a student have that "ah ha" moment while studying math.
