I did a double major in Biology and Chemistry from the University of Puerto Rico, Rio Piedras Campus in 2010. My majors GPA was 3.22 and cumulative 3.44 Currently, I am a fourth year graduate student pursuing a doctorate in Medical Imaging at Vanderbilt University under the Physical And Chemical Biology Program.
Experience
During college in Puerto Rico I tutored/mentored Pre-k to 12 math, physics and sciences as well as tutored biology, chemistry, organic chemistry, physical chemistry, biochemistry, calculus 1 - 3 and ordinary differential equations. I scored in the 87th percentile in math in the GRE. I want to be a tutor because I love teaching and I sincerely believe that anybody can learn any topic if they are motivated in the right way and are taught in different ways. I yearn to be understood and thats one of the most important principles needed in teaching. When i got to grad school I only had a vast knowledge on biology (zoology, botanics, ecology) chemistry, biochemistry and cellular and molecular biology and no knowledge on what was needed in medical imaging. I needed to learn to program, and many topics in biomedical engineering and electrical engineering and I loved it because it was challenging and didn't know anything about it and I put my mind to learn. I want to teach others that they can learn whatever they want to. :)
